Election

Ok, so the Democrats have taken over the majority in the House, and it looks like they will probably do the same in the Senate (or we will have another cooperation term like six years ago with co-chairmanships).

Here’s why this is a good thing. Yes, you heard me, a good thing. If the Democrats are in power in the legislative branch, (especially headed by Nancy Pelosi and her liberal ilk), this gives the country a chance to see what kind of nutjobs these liberals are. Note, I’m not talking about moderate Democrats.

For those of you trying to “send a message” to the President, you were successful. You have also cut off your nose to spite your face. I support the President, but I understand that he isn’t doing things exactly the way I would want him to. But, in my view, voting for the liberals instead of the conservatives is the greater of two evils. So with me, the idea that, “by voting in the greater evil, we will show the lesser evil that they need to be less evil,” makes absolutely no sense.

A vote for the Democrats is a vote FOR THE DEMOCRATS, not against the Republicans. That’s like saying, “I’m not driving TOWARD CHICAGO, I’m driving AWAY from Iowa in a easterly direction. Semantics. Same thing, Kreskin.

Pope vs Al Qaeda

Ok, so I’m flabbergasted. The Pope quotes a thousand year old text about Muslims being violent. What? Muslims…violent? Muslims get offended by this misrepresentation of them, and they….riot. I can’t believe that someone like Benedict would be so insensitive as to point out that a group of peace loving people such as the followers of Islam are in any way linked with violent activities. Oops. I think I poked a hole in my cheek with my tongue there.

Here’s an AP quote to stir the logic circuits in your brain (story from 9/16/06, Benjamin Harvey, writer):

Benedict’s speech in Germany this week unleashed a torrent of rage among Muslims and stirred fears of violent anti-Western protests like those that followed the publication of caricatures of the Prophet Muhammad.

Hmm. This is like OJ Simpson saying, “Accuse me of being a murderer, and I’ll KILL you!” It makes absolutely no sense. Churches are hit by firebombs in protest. What exactly is Benedict supposed to do now? Apologize for saying that Muslims are violent? News flash: THEY ARE! How many of those men that flew planes into buildings and into the PA ground were Muslims? Here’s a hint: All of them.

It just torques me off that a group of people as a whole can be so unreasonable as to react this way. It proves the point. The article goes on…

Iraq’s main Sunni party warned that the pope’s comments could lead to violence between Muslims and Christians. The pope”should not be lured into returning to the Crusades,”the Sunni Iraqi Islamic Party said in a statement.

“The world today needs all religious authorities to cooperate to curb the phenomenon of violence,”it said.”We urge all Christian religious authorities in both the Arab and Western world not to be involved in the confrontation against the Islamic world as it could lead to Muslim-Christian violence, God forbid.”

Hmmm. I wonder who would be starting the violence. Muslims or Christians? 5-4 and pick ’em.

Update

So here I am at work, and I just put in my fourth NG tube of my nursing career. Basically that is where I take a tube (about the diameter of a pencil) and shove it (gently) into the patient’s nostril, and on down into their stomach (the NG stands for Naso Gastric). This lady had been vomiting all day. On my shift (which started at 7pm), she had thrown up (so far) two times by 10pm. The doctor ordered the ng tube. I put the tube in, and dark green fluid started coming out all over the place. She had a lot in there. No wonder she was nauseous. Even more nauseous than you are reading this. It was kind of funny for me, because now she has no nausea (empty stomach), but she is complaining about the tube in her throat. So I say, “which would you rather…the nausea, or the tube?” She said she will have to think about it. I told her the only way that she could pull the tube out (to grasp it right at the end of her nose), so if she decides she would rather have the nausea, then she has the power to change. Except then she’ll get her gown all gross again.

So that’s been my night so far 😉

New Palm

So I am typing this on my new palm. It’s a PalmTX. So far, I’m impressed. It has some really cool features like screen orientation, wifi, a battery that just won’t quit, among others. Plus it was way cheaper than the Dell I had to sell on ebay (because I missed the 21 day deadline by 10 days). And Dell wants to know if I was pleased with my experience. HA!
