SD Deal

So I thought I would go out and buy a new SD card for my new palm. I checked online prices, and found that Best Buy had a 2GB card for $99, and Staples had the same card for $75 (or so). I went to Staples, and found out that their price was actually $65, with a $15 mail-in rebate. Hey! So I snatched one up. On the way home, I thought I would stop at the new Office Depot to see if they had a better price. They did (sorta). $50 straight, with no mail-in stuff. Wa-hoo! I bought one there, and planned to take the other back to Staples (who needs to wait, right?). So I went back to staples today (ok, Wednesday) and told them why I wanted to return it. Turns out, they are going to price match the Office Depot $50 AND still give me the $15 rebate! $35 for a 2GB SD card! And to think I paid $75 for a 512MB card a few years ago!

Now I have to return the other one to Office Depot. Maybe they’ll up the ante!

Update

Boy, I’ve been too busy to write lately what’s going on. Here’s the short version of August:

I worked some, The family and I went on vacation to Florida (our first actual vacation ever). While there, we went to Sea World, Disney World (Epcot and Magic Kingdom), The Kennedy Space Center, and Cocoa Beach (briefly). I worked more, I decided that Pocket PC, as a platform, stinks. We came back from vacation and our air conditioning gave out. The guy came to fix it and said that there was a leak inside the central air unit (the part that sits outside). He hopes that I can get the builder or Lennox to pay for the repair since it was a defect, not my fault.

AC

You know, you really get used to AC, and you don’t realize how much you miss it until it’s gone. For some reason, our central air decided to stop working tonight, and so it is 80 degrees inside. I guess we spend the night here in the heat, thanking God that we NORMALLY have AC, and don’t have to spend every night like this. Tomorrow at 8am, I call the service guy to come out. Hope it isn’t too bad…I mean, this unit is only 2 years old.

PDA

Well, I got my Dell Axim x51v in the mail a few weeks ago, I have been messing around with it to see what it can do. I thought it would be nice if I could type with a handheld keyboard (so I can write journal entries on the fly or something). But they cost $60.

I have a keyboard that I used for my Palm Zire 72, but it says “PALM” on the outside, and the CD that came with it has only palm software on it (it being from “Palm.com”). Bummer.

Then I did some research on the internet, found out who the manufacturer of my keyboard is (www.thinkoutside.com), and went to their website. I found that they made a Pocket PC driver for this keyboard. I downloaded it, installed it, and lo and behold…..my Palm keyboard can be used for my Dell Axim! Whoo-hoo!
